Do I need to register online to participate?
No, you have the choice to participate using a print log sheet or to register and track online. If you choose to track by print log sheet, you may pick one up at your local branch or print it from the Summer Reading Club Home page.
Can I access the Summer Reading Club from a smartphone or tablet?
Yes, there is a mobile version. Use the SLCL app to access it.
Do I need a library card to participate in Summer Reading Club?
A library card is not required to participate. However, a library card number is necessary for children and teens to win an electronic raffle, because it will be used to notify winners. The library card number can be added to the account later. A parent’s library card number may be entered for children and teens. Don’t have a library card? You can apply online to start the process.
How do I create a family account?
Adults can create an account first and then add their family members. Creating a family account allows adults to log family members’ activity without going into each individual account. Adults can log other family members’ activity on their main Welcome page once they are logged in. Adults can also access their family members’ accounts by going to the “Account” drop-down menu at the top of the screen once logged in, and choosing “Family Accounts.” From this screen, you can click the different icons to switch to another family member’s account, update account settings and change passwords or add another family member.
My family member already created an account. Can I create a family account and link their account?
Yes. Create your family account. Once logged into the family account, on the Welcome page click Account at the top of the page and choose Add Family Member Account. Click on the tab Link Existing Account. Enter in their username and password to link both accounts together.
What are the Community Experiences?
The library has partnered with local organizations to enhance the summer reading experience. When you visit the designated locations and complete the activity, you will receive a secret code to enter in your online account. You will earn 20 points per Community Experience. To see all Community Experience partners go to the Badge Gallery.
How do I get a secret code?
Attend specific library events and complete Community Experiences to receive your secret code.
Where can I find a list of all the programs?
When you are logged into your account, there is an “Events” button that lists all the summer programs. You can also pick up a printed Program Guide at your local branch.
How do I log my reading?
Log into your account and on the home screen, enter the amount of minutes you have read. To see everything you have logged as well as your total points earned, click on the “Activity History” button on the right hand side of your account home page.
How do I play the games?
Log into your account and click on the “Games” button on the right side of the home page. As more points are earned, more games are unlocked. Note: you will only get points the first time you play a game.
Where can I see all the badges I can earn?
Click on the “Badge Gallery” button on the right hand side of the home page once you have logged into your account. To view all the badges you have earned, click on the “Activity History” button. Badges are awarded for reading and completing Community Experiences.
How many points do I need to complete the club?
Early Readers need to earn 500 points, Kids and Teens need to earn 1000 points and Adults need to earn 1200 points to complete the Summer Reading Club.
Can we keep earning points after completing the club?
Yes, you can keep earning points after you have completed the club. If participants in the Early Readers Club reach 750 points, and participants in the Kids and Teens Clubs reach 1500 points, they will be automatically entered into electronic raffles for the chance to win additional prizes. Adults will automatically receive a second entry into the electronic raffles for the chance to win additional prizes if they earn 1800 points.
When will bonus raffle winners be notified?
Winners will be notified after August 14.
Where and when do I claim my prizes?
Visit any St. Louis County Library branch to pick up your prizes. Prizes must be redeemed by August 12, 2017.
What do I need to bring to redeem my prizes?
If you chose to track by paper, bring the paper log sheet with you to redeem your prizes. Staff/volunteers will enter your information in the system to award you your prizes. If you choose to track online, you will need to let staff know your username at the time you come to redeem your prizes.
Can I print a list of my reading history from my online account?
You may print a list of all of your activity (reading, secret codes, and games) by clicking on the “Activity History” button on your home page when you are logged into your account. In the top center of the Activity Logging History screen is a print icon.
If a program says registration is required, how do I register?
There are a couple of different ways you can register.
1. Go to http://www.slcl.org/events to find the event and register.
2. Call the library at 314-994-3300 to register.
Where can I ask a question?
Once you have logged into your account, click on the question mark in the bottom right hand corner of your home page to ask a Summer Reading Club question. Also, when logged into your account you may ask a Summer Reading Club question by going into your “Mail” at the top of your screen and clicking on the question mark.
